A downloadable setting guide

Avast, me hearties, and welcome to the Six Seas!

The following guide is a system-agnostic primer to the world of the Six Seas, a region of dashing exploits, daring pirates, swashbuckling escapades, and grand naval battles. From the colonial ports of Aventine and Castor, to the grand Pirate Harbors of Glimmer, to the neutral freeports of Cackaigne and Boats-Birth, this primer will give you all the information you need to tell stories within the world of the Six Seas.

Contained within, you will find information on

  • Gods and Goddesses worshipped by the sailors of the Six Seas.
  • Outsiders - demons, faeries, and other beings who act on the mortals of the world.
  • The history of piracy, and the schisms between the White, Red, and Black Flag Fleets.
  • The thirteen Black Flag Fleets, the heavy-hitters of piracy.
  • Eight Red Flag Fleets, the rebels against modern piracy.
  • Four White Flag Fleets, privateers serving colonial powers.
  • The four colonial powers of the Six Seas: Aventine, a french-inspired nation of faith; Caenwynn, a celtic-inspired nation of druids and elves; Castor, a spanish-inspired nation of merchants; and the Shēnhóng Dǎo, an independent nation under the strain of war.
  • The Freeports of the Six Seas, places where pirates, colonials, and all other sailors come to trade and resupply.
  • Points of Interest, such as the Isle of Monsters, the Black Conch Palace, or the Ring of Thorns.
  • Other factions active in the Six Seas, such as the Illustrious High Seas Trading Company or the Red Chain bounty hunters.
  • Treasures of the Six Seas, including the majestic glowhales and the wondrous cinderglass.
  • Appendices covering other nations and deities from outside the Six Seas, to facilitate characters from beyond the Six Seas.

As previously stated, this guide is system agnostic, meaning that everything contained in this guide can be used in any role-playing system you'd like (though it may be harder to use for some than for others!). That being said, this setting was originally created for Dungeons and Dragons, which means it may still have some artifacts of its creation (such as a Beholder captain). However, none of these artifacts require any mechanical support when you use them in play, and, as always, you should feel free to change or modify the setting to fit whatever vision you have in mind.

The Six Seas welcome you, sailor. The world and its fortunes are yours for the taking - if you have the daring enough to seize them! Go forth and tell your own tales of grandeur and spectacle, for there's nothing an old sailor loves more than a larger-than-life tale told over a bottle of rum.
